Kristin Ryg Helgebostad (b.1984) is a Norwegian performer and choreographer based in Oslo. She welcomes a wide range of different performative and choreographic strategies into her practice, and works in several collaborations both as a performer and a choreographer. Long term collaborators include Ingeleiv Berstad, Laura Marie Rueslåtten, Eivind Seljeseth, Chrisander Brun, Ida Wigdel and Irene Theisen. She is now a part of Bananaz, an association that binds together various performing artists and their work and emphasises collective working methods. Bananaz is receiving “kunstnerskapsstøtte” from the Norwegian Arts Council 2020-2024.

With Berstad/Helgebostad/Wigdel she developed SOIL GIRL which has toured extensively in Europe and Norway. Their latest piece SPOILER premiered at Black Box Theatre in Oslo in February 2017 and is currently touring. With carillonist Laura Marie Rueslåtten, she has created ME TOO, which since the premiere at Dansens Hus (Oslo) in 2015, has been nominated for the Norwegian Critics Prize, selected for Aerowaves Twenty20, Ice Hot Nordic Dance Platform, and toured extensively. Their latest piece CHEERS won the Oslo prize for best stage performance in 2018, and has also been nominated for the Norwegian Critics Prize, selected for Aerowaves Twenty20 and toured extensively.

Together with Ingeleiv Berstad, Kristin was commissioned to choreograph LOUDSPEAKERS//BIRTHMARK (2015) for the National Company of Contemporary Dance (Carte Blanche). In 2019 they made a new piece for the company, titled KNOW HOWS.

Other recent projects as choreographer/dancer include PHANTASMAGORIC with Berstad/Brun/Helgebostad (Dansens Hus 2016, touring 2018-2020), LULLELI FOR FRUHOLMEN FYR with Norwegian Landscape Theatre (Ingøy 2016, nominated for the Norwegian Critics Prize) and AV HISTORISK GRUNN (Dansens Hus/National Tour 2015-2017). With Corpus (company for contemporary dance at the Royal Ballet in Denmark) and Roskilde Festival, Kristin made THE REAL RAW in 2019. Together with Irene Theisen, Anja Lauvdal, Heida Johannesdottir and Fredrik Floen, she made WE COME IN PEACE, (Dansens Hus 2019). The piece was nominated for Osloprisen (The Oslo Prize) for best stage performance in 2019 and won the Norwegian Ctritics Award for best dance perfromance 2020. Lie/Wigdel/Helgebostad/Berstad made the piece NIKULPMYRENE (Black Box Theatre 2019) The piece is currently touring in Norway. Upcoming works include GALAKSEHOPEN and a lot of new projects and touring with all the artists in Bananaz.
